All students will perform in every show.

Performers are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes before show times. Doors will open for parents and the public 45 minutes before show times. Parents, please remind your dancer to use the bathroom before the shows.

Tickets: Tickets must be reserved and purchased online only.  No tickets will be available for purchase at the door, but tickets can still be purchased online and printed off the day of performances. Tickets are $6.00 + tax each ($7.50/ticket). The tax is added on and kept as payment by the online ticket sales company who will be handling all ticket sales for Miss Chanelle. Every performing student needs a seat to sit in the audience for both Saturday performances. You must purchase a seat for your performer(s) for every show. Seats will not be reserved for them like in years past.

As the ticket sales day approaches, Miss Chanelle will provide every family with a coupon code which you can apply online at checkout when purchasing seats. This coupon code will allow you to not have to pay $7.50 for the seat(s) you have selected for your performer(s).

Costumes, Makeup, & Hair

Costumes will be kept at the theatre until performance time, and will not be worn at the rehearsal, except for shoes. Please leave all costumes & accessories at the theatre between the performances to eliminate the chance of items being left at home. This includes shoes, tights, and leotards if you wish. Performers will have a designated area in which to place their belongings between performances. If any costumes are taken home or damaged, you must return them to Miss Chanelle, and you will be required to pay the price for that costume’s replacement.  Costumes are a rental, not a purchase to take home at the end of our performance weekend. All girl costumes will be upstairs in the upper mezzanine of the theatre. All boy costumes will be in the boys’ change room under the stage. Those students who will have to make costume changes during the show should first, upon arrival, put on the costume that is placed in the upper mezzanine. Immediately following their first number, students participating in a second dance will go and change into the costume that is placed in one of the dressing rooms underneath the stage.

Miss Chanelle's teaching schedule is down to nearly a third of the size that it was in previous years. This makes our show much shorter than in the past. We anticipate the show will be less than an hour in length. There will be no intermissions this year. In previous years this was the opportunity for performers to change into their second costume. Now, following their first number, students participating in a second dance will immediately go and change into the costume that is placed in one of the dressing rooms underneath the stage. Some performers will require assistance in changing costumes. Be sure to have a discussion with your performer(s) to determine whether or not they will need your assistance downstairs. Miss Chanelle will not be available to assist those changing during other numbers. When dressed, performers will return to their seats until their final number. Performers are not to return to their seat until the current dance on stage is finished.

There are many tutus that should not be worn while sitting. These students are absolutely required to lift & spread out their costume before sitting down, to be sure no tulle or netting is being sat on and squished. Sitting on tulle can crush and damage the material.  Please remind & assist your student to lift up all dresses or tutus to avoid damaging tulle and wrinkling material if it is covering their seat.

All girls (except 3-7 year olds) are expected to wear their hair in a classical ballet bun unless instructed otherwise (sock buns, braided hair into a bun are all acceptable; please, no messy buns).  If needed, please use hairnets around the bun to calm flyaway hairs. No bangs in eyes please. Should your child’s hair be too short to pull up into a proper bun, please do your best. Should even a small ponytail not be an option, they may wear their hair down while being pinned off their forehead and behind their ears. Ballet 3-4, 5, 6, & 7 year old dancers have the freedom to wear their hair in whatever fancy style they and their parent chooses. Curls, ringlets, ballet bun, curled pony tails, and half-up hair dos are all acceptable. A flower on a clip will be added to their hair style at the theatre.

There is a list of items in your or your child’s costume that you are responsible to provide. All items were listed in our beginning of the year newsletter as items needing to be worn for weekly class. Shoes must be worn on stage. No dancer will be allowed on stage without proper footwear. Please ensure this, as it will be enforced. Many children this time of year feel it necessary to take their shoes off their growing feet as soon as they arrive at class. Please check with your child about how his or her shoes are fitting. If they are too small to wear for performances, please check with Miss Chanelle to borrow shoes before you purchase your child new shoes just for the performance. Students borrowing shoes from Miss Chanelle for the performance need to make sure she knows. Should you not be able to provide one of the items, please contact Miss Chanelle as soon as possible.

Miss Chanelle is not picky about stage make-up. If our stage were much larger, then stage make-up would be a bigger issue. In our current theatre setting, stage make-up is not an absolute necessity. Most would be fine without it. Stage make-up is, however, part of the experience of performing on stage and a good habit to have as dancers can one day experience larger stage atmospheres!

If the process of putting on stage make-up does not add to the excitement of the show, or causes allergies, then you don't need to force the experience. Just don't worry about it. The purpose of stage make-up is not to make performers more beautiful. It is worn to accentuate our features and combat the bright stage lights. Miss Chanelle wants all students to have a positive experience on this beginner sized stage. Even if only a few of the make-up steps can be completed, that's better than nothing. Some like to be simple. Some like to be extravagant! Let the process add to the joy of performing! Below are some demonstrations and examples to follow if you're not sure where to begin.  Older students, or those who wish to be more extravagant can follow the more detailed tutorial, whereas younger, less enthusiastic students can stick to the basic tutorial.

Photography

We will be filming and making digital copies of each performance for purchase. There will be order forms located in the lobby. You are more than welcome to come prepared to film it yourself. Still photos are permitted during the performances, but flash photography is not allowed, as it is very distracting to the performers. Class and individual photos are taken during regular class times. If you would like any copies of your child sent to you, please e-mail Miss Chanelle after the recital through this website contact or at elitedancestudio.cf@gmail.com.

Picture Days - March 18-22, 2024   Location Studio at: 400 West 300 Ave North

Picture days are indicated in pink on the calendar.  Students are required to have performance hair and the correct color of tights for these class times. Students can arrive at dance in their regular street clothes, as they will be changing into costumes as soon as they arrive. Parents are more than welcome to come in and assist with costume changes and to take pictures of their own. It is especially encouraged for a helper to attend with the 3-4 year olds as their numbers are vast. Most classes will not be dancing on picture days, and students are welcome to leave as soon as photos are complete. For group classes, pictures normally take our entire class time.
